The guys at Charleston Bike Center are incredibly friendly, helpful and knowledgable. I knew I wanted a mountain bike, but wasn't quite sure of the specifics. I test rode at least 5 bikes around the block and they were very patient with my indeciveness. They even switched out the tires for me for free after my first ride. Highly recommended!

knowledgeable staff, won't charge you extra if you don't know what your talking about. Have done excellent expedient work for me every time.

Firstly, to the negative commenter: Mongoose IS, indeed, a junk brand, and the staff CBC was doing you a favor by letting you in on this. That it was news to you is truly a testament to the real value of your review. Mongoose is carried by Walmart as well as Dicks -- isn't that a clue? You should have saved yourself some money for the longrun, taken the staff's advice, and ditched the 'Goose.Secondly, I'm completely sold on the CBC. I went in today looking for a new road bike. Having been a big fan of Cannondale, I was hoping to find a decent model for a reasonable price. I was happily surprised. Instead of settling for a Shimano 105/Tiagra mix or even a full Tiagra component setup, I was able to use the same budget for an Ultegra/105 mix that was an '07 model (the CAAD9 Optimo 3). The staff were very friendly, and I will be back this week to pick it up after a "15 or 20 minute test ride" (their suggestion, by the way).
Not happy with them. Walked in to get a puller to take the arms off a 3 piece crank. When he asked what kind of bike it was I told him it was a Mongoose I bought 2 years ago, He asked where I got it and I said Dicks Sporting Goods He let me know in pritty cut and dry tone that the bike was junk. I will never go to the shop for parts or tools their again, ever. I just bought the crank puller and left. Now on John's Cyclery bike shop in St. Albans will keep my buisness.
If CBC doesn't have something, they'll order it! Knowlegeable friendly staff.
