General Info
Our firm opened for business in 1927 as Hanckel & Holcombe and changed its name to Holcombe, Fair & Lane in 1996. Since its inception, the firm has provided commercial sales and leasing services, expanding to land real estate shortly thereafter. One of the oldest real estate firms in South Carolina, the firm was the first real estate company in the area to narrow its focus away from general real estate to concentrate on specific segments of the real estate market. Everyone at Holcombe, Fair and Lane practices good stewardship, taking a personal responsibility and interest in land conservation and commercial real estate. As real estate professionals and as land and commercial property owners, we are uniquely qualified to advise our clients on all the nuances and special considerations involved with Lowcountry land and commercial real estate transactions. The firm’s brokers and agents are extensively involved in related community endeavors, having either held office or served as members of real estate associations, local banks, environmental organizations, wildlife associations, and local and national conservation initiatives. Our extensive real estate experience, coupled with our personal interest in land preservation and commercial real estate, create a winning combination for our clients. Holcombe, Fair & Lane has consistently provided conservation-minded clients with fervent support and superior service in the purchase and sale of land throughout the Lowcountry. The firm has brokered all types of vacant land transactions including plantations, farms, and timberland, as well as properties geared for hunting, fishing, horses, and other recreational uses. Most importantly, every member of the firm possesses a personal commitment to land conservation, and each member owns and manages his own rural land. As such, we all have a deep understanding of the conservation easement process, tax implications, and land management principles. The real estate professionals at Holcombe, Fair & Lane have one fundamental goal: to consistently provide first-rate client service. The firm’s small, non-competitive atmosphere encourages a team environment, enabling us to work together for each client by tapping into each other’s specialty. Holcombe, Fair & Lane takes pride in the mutually beneficial relationships it has built with clients over the years. Our long-term clients and referrals from satisfied clients have always been the firm’s greatest asset. Our straightforward motto – if we focus on doing a good job, then that will take care of everything else – encapsulates why we have been in business for 80 years. New clients can expect nothing but superior service from our brokers, agents, and office staff.
