The Charleston County Human Services Commission is a Community Action Agency (CAA), which was created by the federal government in 1964. The agency offers transportation, employment-related, and housing and financial assistance services. Located in Charleston, S.C., its housing program includes support and placement services for homeless families. The Charleston County Human Services Commission also provides the Early Head Start (EHS) program, which is a federal program that includes child care services. In addition, the agency offers financial management, emergency assistance and educational services to low-income individuals and families. The Charleston County Human Services Commission provides the Weatherization Assistance Program, which includes home improvement services to enhance the efficient use of energy in residential homes.
