Dr. Marks studies radiation-induced injury to normal tissues, particularly the lung and heart, and the use of advanced technologies to reduce these risks. His research on radiation injury has been supported by grants from the National Cancer Institute, the U.S. Department of Defense, and the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Dr. Marks has authored over 200 research publications. He is also an internationally recognized expert in LEAN management principles (an approach to managing an organization that encourages continuous, small improvements), and how these can be applied to improve clinic efficiency and patient safety. Dr. Marks is an award-winning teacher and mentor of medical students and residents. He has been an invited lecturer at many prestigious centers nationally and internationally. Dr. Marks has also been listed as a “Top Cancer Doctor” by Castle Connolly Medical, Good Housekeeping magazine, and Red Book magazine.
