Central Iowa Power Cooperative generates and transmits power to 12 rural electric cooperatives and one municipal electric cooperative in the state of Iowa. CIPCO's service territory stretches 300 miles diagonally across the state from the Mississippi River on the eastern edge to the city of Shenandoah in the southwest corner of the state. Its member distribution cooperatives deliver power to farmsteads, industrial parks, commercial businesses, upscale urban residences, manufacturers and many others. CIPCO and its member cooperatives provide electrical service to more than 260,000 Iowans. In addition to providing power generation and transmission, it provides services to its member cooperatives, including economic development, engineering services, environmental and safety compliance services, power requirement studies, technical expertise, transmission operations, training, marketing and public information. The company s headquarters is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with operation centers in Creston and Wilton. The company is a member of the Touchstone Energy Group.
