- Ear InfectionsSometimes these symptoms are caused by temporary issues such as an ear infection or another underlying condition that’s easily treated. Other underlying conditions may require more extensive treatment and specialized therapy to help you regain your sense of steadiness.
- Sleep DisordersYou know that not sleeping well makes you tired during the day and can put you in a bad mood. - Emergency CareThere are some situations where you should immediately seek medical help. If you experience the symptoms below, you should visit an emergency room or call 911. These signs could be related to a life-threatening issue, such as a stroke.
- ElectrocardiogramIn this test, the nerve is electrically stimulated, and the electrical impulse ‘downstream’ from the stimulus is measured. This is usually done with surface patch electrodes (they are similar to those used for an electrocardiogram) that are placed on the skin over the nerve at various locations. One electrode stimulates the nerve with a very mild electrical impulse. The resulting electrical activity is recorded by the other electrodes.
- Internal MedicineDr. Khan has a heart for medicine and the stellar medical education and training you can trust. He completed his residency program in neurology and internal medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark, and his fellowship in sleep medicine at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
- NeurologyHowever, new studies have shown that although the prevalence of neuromuscular disorders is increasing year over year, the mortality rate is steadily declining. This means that related conditions are being treated more effectively and the survival rate is showing signs of improvement. The specialists at the Arizona Institute of Neurology & Polysomnography have years of experience helping our patients manage neuromuscular disorders.
- Carpal Tunnel SyndromeSymptoms that might prompt a health care professional to order a nerve conduction velocity test include numbness, tingling, and/or burning sensations. The nerve conduction velocity test can be used to detect true nerve disorders (such as peripheral neuropathy and mononeuritis multiplex) or conditions whereby nerves are affected by mechanical compression injury (such as carpal tunnel syndrome and compression neuropathy).
- Multiple SclerosisDr. Khan will perform a full evaluation and may order tests like an MRI scan or a CT scan to differentiate Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo, the most common cause of vertigo, from the most serious causes of dizziness, such as CP angel tumor or Vestibular Schwannoma, Multiple sclerosis, Autonomic Dysfunction or Dysautonomia, TIA, stroke, or other cardiovascular problem.
- EpilepsyHis expertise includes designing effective and personalized treatment strategies for chronic headaches, peripheral neuropathy, epilepsy and seizures, dementia, and neuromuscular disorders such as myasthenia gravis.

- Mental HealthPeripheral neuropathy affects approximately 50% of adults living with diabetes. Of course, that isn’t indicative of your risk of developing neuropathy, it is subject to a range of variables including how advanced your diabetic condition is, your age, and what type of diabetes you have. The condition itself can be very painful and difficult to manage on your own. The pain you experience can discourage you from living your life to the fullest and can have just as much of a negative impact on your mental health as it does onis your physical wellbeing.

- HypothyroidismDr. Habib U. Khan MD August 29, 2018 Brilliant, cutting edge neurologist! I first met Dr. Khan 7 years ago when I started to have memory problems. I walked into a beautifully decorated office that has a small area for "nibbles". That day it was an individually packged assortment of muffins! I was impressed with his knowledge and demeanor, as I asked numerous questions and was upset when he told me what was wrong. He took his time with me, addressing all my concerns and made sure that I was calm when I left his office. He ordered many tests and I came back about a week later for a followup regarding the results. Let me tell you...Dr. Khan is SO on the cutting edge of everything! He diagnosed my hypothyroidism when no one else did! He diagnosed my liver issues when no one else did! He always tries homeopathic remedies first so that you don't get loaded down with medications. His staff of Michael and Dawn, both excellent, have been with him for many years. Miriam, the Office Manager is extremely organized and efficient. Dr Khan is always taking courses so that he keeps up on medications, new diseases, and new treatments, as well as what is not working for patients. I cannot say enough positive things about this man! I gave some Excellent doctors, but this man is way above! Submitted by Beth Morrow

- MRII was recommended to this facility by my regular chiropractor. I had a tear in the material between two of the vertebrae in my back. I had an MRI and a shot to help with the pain but I wanted to find a more permanent solution. I went to the fabulous people at West Texas Neck & Back and I was able to heal my back. I couldn't be happier! They were happy to address any concerns I had and the aftercare has been fabulous.
- RadiologyNormal body temperature must be maintained for the nerve conduction velocity test because low body temperatures slow nerve conduction. Dr. Khan listens carefully to your symptoms and orders appropriate tests like MRI scans, electromyographic studies with nerve conduction testing, and evoked potential studies, to get more detailed information about your condition. At Arizona Institute of Neurology, we perform all these tests, in the comfort of our office, except Radiology. Dr. Khan performs and interprets these tests personally. Advanced Neuropathy Care...

- Computed TomographyFinding the right solution starts with a thorough evaluation. We work one-on-one with you to understand your symptoms. You will need an electrophysiological test like EMG, Nerve conduction, or somatosensory evoked potential study for more detailed information about your condition. If required you may also be sent for radiological examination like a CT scan or MRI study of the head or spine.

- Physical TherapyEveryone is different and will have unique experiences with various treatments. That’s why it’s important to work with experienced neurologists for this pan. Some people may do well with physical therapy, while nerve stimulation may work better for others. Medication may help with the pain or a nerve block can stop the pain signals from sending the pain through your body. Some people will do best with a combination of treatments.
- Occupational TherapyTreatment goals include relieving your symptoms, delaying the progression of the disease, and enhancing your quality of life through medications, physical therapy, and occupational therapy.
