Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority is a joint powers authority formed by the cities and Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles. The authority is governed by a seven-member governing board that oversees Alameda Corridor, a 20-mile-long rail cargo expressway linking the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles to the transcontinental rail network near downtown Los Angeles. It is a series of bridges, underpasses, overpasses and street improvements that separate freight trains from street traffic and passenger trains. The governing board also provides policy directions to ACTA staff regarding additional projects and planning studies. ACTA administers several programs, including construction industry-specific job training to residents, outreach and technical assistance, on-the-job training and education credits to more than 420 young adults, and one-on-one technical consulting to local import-export companies. ACTA is located in Carson, Calif.
