  The backbone of the firm’s business is civil litigation. Even though the firm was founded in 1992, civil litigation has been Mr. Lonson’s primary focus since first becoming licensed by the Texas Supreme Court in 1980. Since 1992, the firm has been extensively—and almost exclusively—involved in two facets of civil litigation: tort litigation involving either personal injury or wrongful death matters; and business litigation. The firm has been involved in virtually all aspects of tort litigation, including premises liability, automobile accidents, aviation accidents, product liability, elder abuse, and medical malpractice. In this area we have represented both plaintiffs and, because of our reputation for effective and affordable representation, defendants who do not have insurance coverage to defend them. The firm’s experience in business litigation is extensive as well, including trade dress infringement, construction defects, disputes within corporations, partnerships, and LLC’s, real estate disputes, breach of contract, debt collection, insurance coverage issues, legal malpractice and fraud-related matters.   Mr. Lonson moved to Santa Barbara in 1986 and became licensed to practice law in California in 1987. Mr. Lonson initially worked for a business litigation law firm in Santa Barbara until 1992. During this time, Mr. Lonson was heavily involved in handling disputes within business entities, construction litigation, real estate disputes, breach of contract matters, fraud and debt collection.

  Our personal injury experience has extended to a wide range of clients. While most of our personal injury clients have been plaintiffs injured by the wrongful conduct of another, we also defend individuals and business entities that have had a personal injury claim filed against them but don’t have insurance coverage to provide them with an attorney.
• Medical Malpractice
  Mr. Lonson opened his own law practice in 1992, at which time he began to once again accept personal injury and wrongful death claims, representing both plaintiffs and defendants, in addition to remaining involved in business litigation. During this time, Mr. Lonson has obtained successful trial verdicts in personal injury, wrongful death and business litigation, as well as obtaining many favorable settlements in such matters as construction defect claims, elder abuse litigation, disputes within business entities, legal malpractice, medical malpractice, and other personal injury, wrongful death, and business litigation matters. Mr. Lonson additionally performs business transaction services for select clients and currently serves on the Board of Directors and acts as an officer for a number of for-profit organizations.
