The Finance Department provides financial advice to the city manager, city council and all departments. It offers various financial services, such as budget preparation and execution, preparation of the annual property tax levy, along with management of the city's investments. The department operates through its financial management, accounting, information systems, purchasing and risk management as well as revenue division. Finance Department is governed by the City of Carbondale. In the financial year 2009, the City of Carbondale became a recipient of 22nd Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.
