NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME!My issue wth Canton Power Equipment started with theyoung manwho is their sales force as well as the service department. After the sale of this $21,000 machine to me, his attentive, responsive nature vanished, and for the remainder of my association with the company, he returned phone calls when he wanted. I decided to speak to him andrequest that he return phone calls to me withina 24 hour window (so I could make plans based uponan expectation as to when my machine would be done),He refusedto do this, said he would call back when he wanted to. After that, it was not unusual for several days to go by before he bothered to call back. The straw that broke the camel's back was when his company took a week long X-Mas breakwhile my tractor was in for warranty work in December 2016. He took it upon himself to call me (!) and offered to come in to work anyway during the break, and install 2 more frame bolts to finish up the work he was doing. I was clear to him that he didn't need to inconvenience himself, but hewanted to andpromised me he would finish up and call me on a specific day, Monday at the start of the week of the company break. Heassurred me that I could pick up the tractor on that day.I made plans for workers to assist me the day after my tractor was due back in some tree removal work for which the machine was crucial. That didn't work out well for me, because not only did the young man not finsh my tractor, he didn't bother to call me andreschedule. The tractor was locked up for a week until the company reopened, on the Monday morning following the week they were closed. I called(back open) Canton Power Equipment and found out that their service guy was unavailable, and uncontactable, andmy machine was as he left it = two bolts uninstalled. At thatpoint, I drove in and picked up the unit and fixed it myself.I talked to the Owner of CPE, and he was clear that his worker was not accountable to me for whatever he had said or done, and thatthe ownerwas fine with whatever had happened, because his worker was, in his view, "excellent". When I called CPE a few weeks laterto inform the service guy that I had had additional backhoe trouble, we talked about his failure to do as he said he would and his lack of communication, and he told me that he was not interested in discussing what had happened, and that he "didn't give a s***" about my problems with his lack of integrity. In my view this company is too small (3-4 total folks, I think), the facilities are ridiculously tiny with little room for inventory, they have no company policies that require prompt and honest communications, and for whatever reason, allow their sole (I think this is accurate) employee to conduct his work relationships as he wants, free of wise or ethical constaints.CPE is not my idea of a company that I want to be servicing my equipment when I need reliable communication soI can make future plans for the use of my machine. Buy a chain saw or the like from this company, and you should be fine, but if you need a high dollar machine and need to depend upon a service department that can service it and provide you with information that you can rely upon to be able to get back to work on your schedule, this company is not up to it, not ready for prime time!
