Came in on a Friday night with a party of 10, including 6 kiddos. Were seated immediately.
Restaurant does NOT have bathrooms. Cash only (ATM located inside)
Restaurant is small on the inside, so seating is cramped.
Food was great. Had the iPhone. Menu is hilarious. Worth reading, even if you don't get the food.
Service was good. Waitress took good care of us despite being a large party.
Great burgers, but I love this place for reasons people gripe about it in the other reviews. Quirky and old school, for sure.
Several years ago my husband and I went there while on vacation. At that time they served the BEST chowder I had ever had, still haven't had any better. The Lime Rickey, on a hot day, will cool you right to the bone marrow. Excellent place. The rice pudding is also right on for good old fashioned comfort food.
Bartley's is usually crowded, both in that the seats are all filled, and they're jam-packed up next to each other. The burgers here are phenomenal, with numerous different topping configurations all named after celebrities; stray far from the burgers, though, and the food can be hit-or-miss. I can't not get a raspberry lime rickey. Hectic but fun, with bric-a-brac on every inch of the walls.
Just off Harvard Square, Bartley's is the place to go for a great burger. More than that, it's an institution. Just look at the left-wing posters on the wall, and you'll know where you are politically. Each of the 20 or so burgers is named for someone famous: they even have a "This old House" burger. French fries are hot and crisp. Great lunch experience.
