Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central Schools, based in Glenville, N.Y., operates five schools from grades kindergarten through 12. There are more than 3,000 students in all five schools that include BH-BL High School, O Rourke Middle School, Charlton Heights Elementary, Pashley Entertainment and Stevens Elementary. The BH-BL Central Schools was formed more than 90 years ago and a large percentage of its students go for higher education with a low dropout ratio. Collectively the board of education has legal responsibility for the operation of the entire school district and establishes the policies under which the district is operated. Apart from this, the board also develops an annual budget and acts as a two-way communication link between the residents and the superintendent.
