The Northlake Police Department is a full-service, community-based law enforcement agency. It operates a patrol division that conducts follow-up investigations and responds to more than 32,000 calls for service. It maintains a traffic safety division that addresses recurring traffic problems and conducts surveys for traffic-related issues. The department also has an emergency response team that handles barricaded suspects and hostage situations. The Northlake Police Department utilizes a fleet of over 20 vehicles. Its communications center has various computer-aided dispatch systems and is responsible for answering nearly 150,000 phone calls for service annually. The department has received the Community Policing Recognition Award from the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police. The Northlake Police Department is a member of the North East Multi-Regional Training. It accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.
