I took my child to see Dr Philip Bell. Dr Bell was very nice and professional. I really felt that he care about my child's eyes. I never felt that I was being rushed as you do with some doctors. He helped my son with contacts and understanding the importance of care for people who wears them. His staff was very friendly and helpful. Our experience was really great. I would recommend him to friends and family.

I found dr bell dismissive, discounted my concerns, I left his office wondering where to find an eye dr, he obviously did not need my business. his father was wonderful, dr abernathy was a saint. I felt disrespected by bell.

as many in burlington, I first saw the senior bell from 6 yrs of age, until the father passed. I took.my sister a yrago to see jr. he was nice and polite, except, he did take a personal cell phone call while he was examning her eyes. he did act puzzled about her simple, not complex eye swelling. his reaction puzzled me, since he had seen allergic reactions in all his yrs. of course I thought he was being somewhat manipulative, wanting to set her up w full eye exam and glasses! so I went to him, 6 months ago. chronic eye problem, I knew what it was. he comes in the room, says, did ur eye dr at alamance eye center, retire? (these were not his exact words, he used the dr name). not, hello, how can I help you. I told him no, I had never gone to that eye center. he examined my eyes, seemed to have no clue, with the obvious problem right in front of him. I was sooooo disappointed in his behavior, so unlike his father, who was a true professional and kind. so, off I go with scripts, feeling not right about this guy. his manipulations r obvious, lack of respect obvious. I am sure he could make a fine eye dr, if he got real and matured. its unfortunate, I will never refer anyone to him. maybe the old ppl that go to him, know, no better?

I've gone to Dr. Bell for a few years now. My whole family goes to Dr. Bell. My in-laws, their children and their husbands, my husband and my children and I have all seen him for a few years. I wear both contacts and glasses and my husband wears glasses, which he breaks often due to his work environment. I give this info so you'll understand that we pay-in a lot of money for our eye care, and we don't have insurance. I called Dr. Bell's office yesterday and asked to pickup my contacts and my husbands glasses prescription. I'm taking his prescription elsewhere because my husband has a difficult time finding glasses that fit his face and head well. We found a pair at another location. I was told it would be no problem. Before I went in, dr. Bell called my husband and told him when I come in, he's going to have me look at their frames, which we've already done. I get into his office to pickup my contacts and my husbands prescription and the receptionist tells me that Dr. Bell wants me to check-out their frames before I leave. To which I tell her, I've already done. I then ask for the prescription. She tells me he filled it out but didn't sign it and he's already left for the day. In essence, holding my husbands prescription hostage until I look at their frames. Do you think that would make me want to buy frames from them? I have spent lots of money in his office on contacts, glasses, eye exams. And I ask for my husband's prescription and he undermines me by calling my husband when I'm the one who requested it. And then he doesn't even sign the prescription to release it to me. Dr. Bell will not only be losing this pair of glasses, he will be losing all future business from me and my husband and our three children. This says a lot about his character. Also, this is not the first time I've encountered this type of manipulation from him. There have been a a couple other times when I've asked him for something directly and because he doesn't want to give it to me, huge tries to convince me otherwise, all having to do with sales, not what's best for the care of my eyes.

Awesome eye doctor who makes you extremely comfortable around him. He took his time and I never felt rushed. If he was gone from the room, it was never more than a couple of minutes. He answered all my questions in detail. Highly recommend!!!!
