- Oral Cancer ScreeningDr. Mitrofan performs free-of-charge a visual cancer screening of the oral soft tissues of all of his patients. This habit goes in line with his general philosophy of preventing rather than repairing. Prevention and early detection are key factors in the fight agains oral cancers. When pathology is suspected, he will refer the patient to an oral surgeon or other specialist for further evaluation, diagnosis and treatment. Also, Dr. Mitrofan is very proactive in discussing with patients about smoking cessation and about quitting other habits that can lead to oral and systemic pathologies.

- VeneersVeneers are thin wafers of strong porcelain that are layered usually on the front surface of teeth to improve their color and/or shape. Dr. Mitrofan has had exceptional results with veneers and patients are really happy that their smile had been improved tremendously without the need of removing a lot of tooth structure.
- CrownsCrowns are restorations that will restore the shape and function of natural teeth when their structural integrity has been compromised or when a person desires to change the shape and color of their teeth. They are usually made of ceramic, full-porcelain, or a porcelain-covered metal jacket (most often gold for it's biocompatibility and bacterial growth-inhibiting properties). A bridge will replace one or more lost teeth by linking the replacement teeth to crowns placed on the teeth on each side of the gap.

- Root Canal TreatmentInside every tooth there is a chamber that houses nerves, blood vessels and other types of tissues collectively called pulp tissue or "nerve". When the tooth has extensive decay, very large fillings, cracks or has sustained other forms of injury, the pulp ("nerve") becomes severely irritated or infected. This results in pain, which sometimes can be very acute and debilitating. This is most often a throbbing pain that will last for minutes or hours, but many times is a dull, hard to localize pain that will radiate to the ear or the entire jaw. Sometimes the tooth is sensitive to both hot and cold, and painful to biting and touching. The treatment for this condition is to remove all pulpal tissues inside the tooth, sterilize and then fill the inside of the tooth with special materials which will prevent leakage. This is what's called root canal therapy. The process involves little or no pain, and saves a tooth that otherwise would have to be extracted (pulled).
- Deep CleaningWhen bacteria are allowed to develop uncontrolled on and around teeth, the gums (gingivae) become irritated and infected. The process starts with gingivitis (gum inflammation) and progresses to periodontal disease (periodontitis). At this stage, not only the gums are more swollen and bleed easily, but actually the bone that supports the teeth gradually gets destroyed. This bone loss leads to a weakening of the structures supporting the teeth, ultimately resulting in tooth loss. A foul smell usually accompanies this condition. The treatment is to remove the irritants, including tartar and bacteria, and thus allow tissues to come back to normal. Sometimes root planing (deep cleaning) with rigorous follow-up visits and improved oral hygiene habits will solve the problem. In some cases gum surgery and antibiotic treatment may be needed.
- DenturesWhen some teeth are lost, one treatment option is to replace them with artificial teeth set on a substructure that rests on the remaining teeth and bony ridges. This is called a removable partial denture. The results can be amazing both functionally and esthetically. When all teeth are lost, on one or both jaws, then a complete denture can be fabricated to restore the ability to eat, speak and smile. A lot of people who lost their teeth find dentures to be the fastest and most economical solution to their problem.
- Dental ImplantsIf missing teeth has been a problem for you, dental implants may be the answer you've been looking for. Dental implants can restore your confidence and self-esteem as they help you to eat, speak and smile comfortably.

- BracesInvisible braces are used to orthodontically correct the alignment of your teeth by using a series of clear, removable aligners. Each aligner gradually moves your teeth just a little bit in a new position until you get straight teeth.
- Teeth WhiteningWhite, bright teeth! Yeah! Your coworker has them, and your friend, and your neighbor, and, of course, all those movie stars and TV people. But can you have a bright smile? Yes, you really can have a bright smile, too! It's simple, safe, and very affordable. Dr. Mitrofan will create a set of close fitting custom trays containing a special bleaching gel that will be worn for half hour each day for about two weeks. The results can vary depending on the initial color of your teeth and other factors, but teeth will get brighter, most of the time with excellent results.
