Southside Elementary School serves more than 1200 students in pre-kindergarten through grade eight. Its educational programs include instruction in science, mathematics, English and social studies. The school also offers early childhood programs. Southside Elementary School additionally provides special education services for students with disabilities. It organizes extracurricular programs that include performing arts shows, music concerts and film festivals. The school is part of the Buffalo School District, which is one of the leading school systems in New York. The district operates over 65 elementary, middle and high schools and serves nearly 35,000 students. It offers instruction in language arts, technical and occupational studies, foreign languages, music, physical education, and home and career skills.
