      Established in 1862, the Jewish Family Service of Buffalo & Erie County is a family service organization that provides mental health care and community development services. It offers home studies, follow-up supervision, and pre- and post-placement counseling services for birth and adoptive parents. The Jewish Family Service of Buffalo & Erie County provides an adult psychosocial day program that focuses on social skills development training and case management, transportation and therapeutic recreational services for senior citizens with mental disabilities. The organization also offers in-home health care, mental health assessment, nutritional, and medical and psychiatric appointment coordination services through its Case Advocacy Reachout to the Elderly program. Additionally, it provides family life education and preventive services, as well as gambling, substance abuse and alcohol addiction recovery programs.
