We were surprised that this place has gone down hill since our last visit. Prices are way too high for the poorly prepared meat. All of our dishes had over cooked meat and dry rice. I can get that kind of product at home and save the high prices that tamale king is now charging. Beer was cold, chips were cold, beans were cold, sounds like a trend doesn't it. It is very clear that the owners have let their prevoius success go to their heads. Much better food available for the money. I have heard that their kitchen is very clean. I guess it is due to the fact that most of their food is coming from frozen bags and boxes..

tamale king is an excellent restaurant to go to if you are in the hill country they have a very large menu and all of the food is excellent no matter what number on the menu you choose you will love it the staff and there waiters are very friendly and make you feel rite at home my favorite foods are the number 28 buchanan dam fajitas and also the number 27 king shrimp the sopapillas are outstanding and are huge i highly recommend you try one. but if you are just coming in to hang out with friends or family you have to try a mexican martini from the bar. mex of the ages is the best way to go but you will have to ask for it. thank you tim gina and the rest of the staff for the time i spent there with yall sincerly chris woodrufff
I try to make it there every time I am in the area. Great Borracho beans!!
