      General Info
      Terry is part of a direct lineage of Sandy Meisner and his brilliant approach to actor training. He is also a core faculty member at the Experimental Theatre Wing at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Terry is also a NYU Associate Teacher of Drama. He trained under the guise of William Esper and then became a faculty member teaching the Meisner Technique for over 20 years. A recipient of the Drama League's directing fellowship, he has directed at a variety of locations including the Hanger Theatre, Yale University, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Circle Rep. Terry was also a member of Rina Yerushalmi's Teatron Company at La Mama E.T.C., and performed in numerous productions under Anne Bogart’s direction. The work we do at the Terry Knickerbocker Studio exemplifies impeccable integrity, joyous practice, bold choices, and a lively sense of play. Our four primary aims are: 1. To provide our students with foundational tools and a process for creating authentic, imaginative acting. 2. To empower our students to embrace the full range of their unique humanity 3. To cultivate uncompromising standards of craftsmanship and artistry in our students 4. To support our students with the entrepreneurial skills needed to be a successful working actor.
