Founded in 1986, the Institute for Community Living is a nonprofit organization that offers a variety of health care programs for patients with mental illness and developmental disabilities. It serves more than 5,000 individuals in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens, N.Y. The organization offers a range of parent advocacy and family support programs. It provides education, clinical treatment, skills training, mental assessment, crisis intervention, program monitoring and 24-hour emergency services. The organization additionally offers medication management, consulting, testing, medical evaluation, rehabilitative, and physical, occupational and speech therapy solutions. It also offers family reunification, affordable housing, and medical and dental care services. The Institute for Community Living maintains one of its locations in Brooklyn, N.Y.
