It offers compensation, advocacy of rights and benefits and direct services through a network of community-based programs. The board also offers financial relief to victims and families by paying crime-related expenses, including medical and funeral expenses and loss of earnings and support. In addition, the New York State Crime Victims Board offers counseling and covers the cost of court transportation and residing at and utilizing the services of a domestic violence shelter.
