Mendel Goldfinger, MD, is Director of the Hemato-Oncology Montefiore Network Program and Assistant Professor at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Goldfinger has a special interest in the treatment of hematologic malignancies including Hodgkin lymphoma, Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, Leukemia, Multiple myeloma and Myelodysplastic syndrome. He has an expertise in stem cell transplantation and using novel cellular immunotherapies to treat hematologic malignancies.In his role at Montefiore Einstein Center for Cancer Care (MECCC), Dr. Goldfinger’s focus is on developing a direct path to cutting-edge hematologic malignancy treatments, including transplantation and immunotherapies, for patients throughout the Montefiore Health System. MECCC is among a select few programs in the country that provide novel therapies like CAR-T cell and adoptive cell transfer; Dr. Goldfinger is instrumental in building a network that allows patients seamless access to these therapies.Dr. Goldfinger received his Doctor of Medicine from SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine. He completed his postgraduate training with a residency in Internal Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He continued his training at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, completing a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology.Dr. Goldfinger’s research interest is in the development of novel cellular immunotherapies to aid in fighting cancer. His primary focus is developing ways to train immune system cells to fight cancer while minimizing or avoiding side effects. His lab and clinical research experience is in immunotherapy for cancer and his work has been published in a number of peer-reviewed articles and journals including Blood and JCO Precision Oncology.Dr. Goldfinger received the Outstanding Resident Award in 2014, given to him by the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Montefiore. He is board certified in internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology.
