Founded in 2001, Carl C. Icahn Charter School serves more than 320 students in kindergarten through grade eight. The school s academic curriculum includes language arts, math, science and social studies. Carl C. Icahn Charter School operates a chess instruction club and offers a range of sports activities, such as basketball and football. The school also publishes a newspaper called the Brook Ave. Times. Carl C. Icahn Charter School has been recognized by the Department of Education and The Sun and Bronx Times newspapers for its excellence in education. Each of its classrooms features a television, VCR, DVD, video library and computers.
