- Founded in 1972, the Citizens Advice Bureau is a settlement house located in Bronx, N.Y. It is a member of the United Neighborhood Houses, which is a parent organization for the settlement house system in New York. The Citizens Advice Bureau maintains more than 20 offices and serves over 27,000 residents annually. It addresses the needs of people of all age groups, including immigrants and homeless individuals and families. The bureau also serves individuals and families impacted by AIDS. The Citizens Advice Bureau provides transitional housing and relocation assistance and foster care and homelessness prevention services. The Citizens Advice Bureau also provides case management, employment assistance, and mental health and nutritional services.
