- ArthritisNeck pain is an extremely common condition, especially in those over the age of 50. Pain of the neck is the second most common reason for one to seek chiropractic care. There are many reasons why neck pain occurs. Some of the most common reasons include whiplash, spinal arthritis, herniated discs, muscle spasms, and poor posture. Even stress can lead to discomfort and decreased mobility. Some less common, but more serious causes of neck pain are infection, spinal stenosis (narrowing of the spinal canal), and rheumatoid arthritis.

- Pediatric CareMany people think chiropractic care is just for adult conditions such as back pain and headaches. What they don’t know is that children can greatly benefit from chiropractic care as well.
- Primary CareYou do not need a referral. Chiropractors are portal of entry providers. This means patients have direct access to these doctors without the need for a referral. Most of the time you can call to schedule an appointment with a chiropractic office and be seen within a day or two. Many of the primary care doctors refer their patients to chiropractors and vice versa. Our doctors at Smart Pain Solutions frequently refer our patients to other pain management professionals if we believe the patient needs further evaluation. This may include the use of MRIs, a referral to a physical therapist, or requesting a second opinion from a spine surgeon.
- Ear InfectionsI know what you are thinking; my child doesn’t have back pain, why would I bring them to a chiropractor? Well, the answer is EVERYONE can benefit from chiropractic care. There is an abundance of reasons one may bring their child in for chiropractic care, including asthma, colic, chronic colds, ear infections, and bedwetting, just to name a few. Now don’t hear this wrong, no one is claiming to “cure” any of these issues, but they are all conditions that have been known to respond to chiropractic care. Put simply, the chiropractic adjustment removes interference from the nervous system. When the nervous system is “interference-free” the body can perform at its peak potential. When the body is functioning optimally, many symptoms, and/or conditions diminish or even resolve.

- Internal MedicineChiropractic physicians have their doctorates in chiropractic. This is different from a medical doctor or an academic doctorate at a university. Chiropractic doctors treat the spine, specifically the neck and back. The spine is made of up muscles, bones, joints, ligaments, & tendons. You should see medical doctors (MD’s) as well! Patients can be co-managed with chiropractors and other healthcare professionals at the same time. Chiropractors can order MRIs and send referrals to other pain specialists. Because chiropractors treat the spine, they often work closely with other doctors in healthcare whose focus is on more organ system-related conditions. That includes primary care physicians (PCP’s) or Internal Medicine doctors. Our chiropractic office strongly encourages the use of integrated medicine, making sure our patients receive complementary care from other providers.
- MRIProgressive arthritis can lead to more a more serious conditions like spinal stenosis. This is when the nerve pathways of the spine have become occluded by the bony spurs that developed over time. An indication of this can be pain, as well as numbness and tingling or “shooting” down the arm or leg. This condition is often manageable early on with proper treatment such as chiropractic and exercises. A good initial screening for arthritis is an x-ray. When weakness develops, an MRI and surgical consultation is most likely the next step of care.

- WhiplashWe treat a large variety of injuries to the body that aren’t necessarily related to the spine as well. These problems may include disc pain, nerve pain from spinal vertebrae pinching together, shoulder pain from lifting too much, headaches, and or whiplash from a motor vehicle collision. - Physical TherapyA common cause to back pain is a bulging or herniated disc. These conditions can occur at a moment’s notice or gradually develop over time due to muscular imbalances and improper posture. Chiropractic is often the best first line of defense in managing these conditions. Before you speak with a surgeon or visit a pain management doctor, less invasive options such as chiropractic and physical therapy are usually indicated. Your local chiropractor can diagnose your condition and help determine what the best next step is.

- Plantar FasciitisPlantar Fasciitis is the most common form of heel pain. It often occurs in middle-aged people but can also occur in the younger population who are on their feet for extended periods of time. The plantar fascia is a ligament that supports the arch of the foot. When the ligament is irritated (stressed or sprained) it gets weak, swollen, and painful. This condition is called inflammation. Inflammation can also be a result of micro-tears in the plantar fascia, which occur from repetitive stresses on the sole of the foot.
