I highly recommend seeing Dr. Harwood if you have foot problems. He did a fantastic job of correcting our 15-year old daughters foot problem. In the past, our daughter had endured lots of pain in the toe area of both feet, but especially the right one. The pain became especially severe when she wore cleats while pitching softball. Her pediatrician recommended that she see Dr. Harwood about it and an appointment was set up a week later in Brewton. Dr. Harwood quickly diagnosed the problem. He recommended surgery since the toe joint, skin involvement and pain would only get worse with time. He let us know what to expect for the surgery and how to prepare for post-surgery recovery at home. His staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. The out-patient surgery took about an hour and a half at the Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, Alabama. The Hospital staff and volunteer crew were so pleasant and kept updating us with her status as the procedure was being done. We were surprised that our daughter felt so little pain after the surgery that she took only one of the prescribed pain medicine pills.It has been seven weeks since the surgery and it is amazing how quickly the almost 4-inch incision has healed. It will be difficult to even see a scar in a couple more months. Our daughters foot is pain-free and is now able to wear tennis shoes. She will be able to pitch softball again in another three weeks!
