Provided by YP.comI hired Minerva Appraisal to write an insurance appraisal for some silver that I inherited. They arrived on time and took very good care of the items on my property. I was impressed with the depth of their knowledge and experience. The written report was well-written and thorough.

Provided by YP.comMinerva Appraisals was contracted by my moving company to perform appraisals on the items damaged by the movers. First, I am a 4th generation auctioneer and appraiser not a random Joe that thinks every antique is worth something. Minerva Appraisals missed many of the appraisals. Not missed the target, missed the side of the barn. Not just value, but elementary identification issues. For example, on a federal eagle mirror she based date on the actual mirror (the glass part) inside the frame, which was a cheap 90s replacement (the plastic kind that bends....no, really). A many centuries old water pitcher was misidentified because it wasn't magnetic so she thought that made it newer. It was BRONZE age (bronze isn't magnetic). My greatest concern here is when I questioned them, most of the items the appraiser said something to the effect of "upon further review I *insert reason* and these are worth LESS. So, even giving the benefit of the doubt and assuming the appraiser was operating in good faith, she's admitting that her appraisals don't stand up to HER OWN review??? Additionally, it was established and the appraiser stated she understood that replacement values in this claim were based on new replacement value -- she then appraised many of the very items (that by her own admission should have been new replacement value) as USED value. So far, every single item that I have challenged her on that i sent to an expert, the expert has agreed that her assessment was wrong.
