Bonjour, Im Bryan Champagne owner of Champagnes Cajun Swamp Tours in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. My staff and I have been guiding Cajun Swamp Tours for over 16 Years. We will traverse very dense aquatic native, and non native vegetation to Southern Louisiana in our comfortable tour boats. There are many bird watching opportunities while cruising under groves of 500 year old moss covered cypress and tupelo trees. During your journey you will discover the history of Spanish Moss and how it was used many years ago, and its uses today. We will also reveal the Cajun secret of how cypress trees were harvested from the swamps when no boats were available. You will be able to examine pieces of cypress drift wood, and Cypress roots (Cypress Knees) in their native environment.Lake Martin is a favorite destination for Bird Watching or Birding for tourists from all over the world. This flooded forest is home to 205 different species of birds and is one of the largest nesting area of wading birds. You will see many species of birds, such as Borrowed Owls, Great horned Owls, Pileated Woodpeckers, Anhinga, Cormorants, Wood Ducks, Yellow (and Black) crowned Night Herons, & The Great Blue Heron. Other wildlife may be seen such as nutria, frogs, snakes, and best of all alligators. Private Bird Watching swamp tours are available upon request.Along the way, we may see alligators 3 to 14 ft long. You will learn how, Cajuns harvest alligator eggs & alligators in South Louisiana. Alligator hunts are available only in September.

You also have the option to wait inside and enjoy the A/C while watching our big screen TVs.The store provides an ATM Machine, drinks, snacks, hot dogs & nachos.We provide the only restroom facilities at Lake Martin, alternate restrooms are 8 miles away.Fishing supplies: live bait, shiners, worms & crickets are available for our Outdoorsmen.Kayak & canoe rentals are available (life jackets included.)
