The Area Education Center, also known as AEC, provides an alternative setting for students who have fallen behind in the completion of coursework and are at the risk of dropping out. It is a part of the ISD 181 Learning Center, which offers a range of educational opportunities and programs for preschool-aged children and adults. The center s curriculum includes math, science, social studies, physical development and art. The ISD 181 Learning Center provides early childhood screening services for more than 490 students annually. In addition, the center administers several adult basic education programs to help students in acquiring and improving literacy skills. It is a part of Brainerd Public Schools.
