Racist store managers. Let’s call these bigots out. “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere” ~MLK. I purchased a WaterPik and it just stopped working. I tried returning it and was told by the store manager that I could not. I contacted customer support and have spent that past 5-7 weeks emailing this guy name Brandon and he finally got approval for the exchange. Today, I went to the store for the 3rd time and attempted to make the exchange and the manager at the store RACHEL started off by questioning that I even had a conversation with customer service. Yes she did. She went as far as to state that she never received an email or any correspondence from the person Lisa who gave the approval in her inbox. WTH? As I was standing there at the counter; let me remind you (...I’m 3 store visits in, about 8-9 emails with CSR, and this has been ongoing for about 5-7 weeks now). A white woman came to the counter with an item that she said she purchased seven months ago. She had no receipt no packaging nothing. Without any hesitation Rachel told the CSR to give her a store credit of $20 because the item was less than $20. I could not believe what I was hearing. I have spent weeks trying to get an exchange. I had the item (the store manager saw it) in hand in the store, I have the box / packaging that the item came in with barcode and everything - yet they’ve refused to make the exchange and never once made a suggestion of giving me a store credit or anything for that matter. Why have I been treated so differently than the white customer tonight? Why has my outcome been nothing? We are both human beings, we both made a purchase with money, we are both customers. It seems though that bias and race has played a key role in how I have been treated over the past several weeks. In my case, I have supporting evidence of the purchase, the white customer did not, and the item she showed RACHEL was practically falling apart. Yet, she was treated completely different than I was - why? This is America and things like this continue to happen because no one speaks out. I’m speaking out and I need answers. I need to know why I’ve spent 5-7 weeks trying to exchange an item or get some solution. WHY?
