I took my car in about a year ago because the air conditioning was not getting very cold. I was told it was the compressor/condenser? needed to be replaced. They said they fixed it and sent me on out the door. On my way home, the ac started making a noise so I immediately turned around and went straight back to Owen Tire & Auto. They said the part ordered was faulty. They ordered a new part, installed it and I went my way. Almost a year later I noticed the AC was no longer cooling and took it back. They said all the freon had leaked out and found that they had not adjusted some clamps correctly during the initial installation. Said they fixed it but car once again lost freon and that's when they put dye in to find some sort of leak. They said it was the evaporator and that they were unable to replace it because it requires taking the entire dash apart. I called Maas Radiator for a second opinion and they said to bring it in. The AC specialist there said that Owen Tire & Auto had incorrectly installed a tube which caused the dye to spray all over the interior of my car where the engine is located and that eventually could have worn a hole in the evaporator due to the pressure from the improperly installed hose. Funny Owen Tire & Auto never mentioned or saw this. Maas did a complete diagnostic and said the evaporator was fine and that a tube installed by Owen Tire & Auto was the problem, so they not only cleaned up the dye but fixed it and filled it with freon again and now it is working perfectly. The technician from Maas took me outside and showed me exactly where the problem was and where the dye had sprayed all inside my car. It costs a lot of money anywhere from 800 to 1000 dollars to replace an evaporator because labor is so expensive due to removing and reinstalling the entire dash to get to it. The part itself is relatively enexpensive. Maas did not charge me a single penny for the work done because they were shocked about my experience with Owen Tire & Auto. Owen Tire & Auto should stick to selling tires only. I do not recommend Owen Tire & Auto to anyone, ever!! They are totally incompetant and dishonest.
