Which services does OPDR offer? •Some clients engage OPDR caregivers for a few days after surgery. •Others need long-term care to minimize the effects and complications of a chronic disease or a disabling condition. •Others seek comfort and companionship during the final weeks of a terminal illness. Our nursing services include both skilled care and basic personal care. Examples of skilled nursing care include: •Assessing health status and individual needs, communicating with physicians about changes in the patient’s condition •Providing case management to facilitate coordination among doctors and other health professionals caring for the patient, plus ongoing communication with the family •Administering prescription medications, including injections and tube feeding •Implementing prescribed treatments •Changing dressings, preventing and treating wound infections •Teaching self-care Among our personal-care services are: •Assisting with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, feeding, walking, etc.) •Aiding with prescribed exercise regimens •Giving medication reminders and assistance with taking medications •Driving to medical appointments •Providing emotional support and companionship •Performing meal preparation, laundry, shopping and errand running for the patient, as well as keeping the patient’s immediate environment clean and tidy •Cooperating with household staff in arranging for contractors to perform home maintenance and chores Because we work for each client personally, our services vary with every client. If you enjoy getting out for social activities but require assistance, you might have your OPDR caregiver accompany you to social engagements or family gatherings. When requested, we even travel out-of-state with our clients.
