Provided by YP.comThis place should change their name to "The Unethical Cat Practice". If you're considering taking your cat to this vet office, or if you are currently taking your cat to this location, please re-consider what you are doing with your time and money. Bottomline, they rip people off. And what they're doing is nothing short of animal abuse. They told me my cat's teeth were the "worst they had seen in years". Gave me an estimate of $1,800-$3,000 to have ALL of her teeth removed. They kept us there for 2 hours. I left that appointment, and immediately called another vet, hoping I was not going to have to spend thousands of dollars on my cat. (She is like family to me, but let's get real, she's a CAT). So I took her to an actual veterinarian. He works on every kind of animal.. dogs, cats, pigs, cows, horses. He looked at her teeth, smiled at me and said "she just needs her teeth cleaned". I set up my appointment for the teeth cleaning and we were out of there in 5 minutes. Today was my cat's teeth cleaning. My bill was $115 (there were a few teeth that had to go and they charged me $10 per tooth. the actual cleaning was $85). That is less than the $125 I wasted at The Unethical Cat Practice. That's what they charged me just to LOOK at her. Oh yeah, and The Cat Practice wanted to charge $200 per tooth that had to be removed. I don't think humans even pay that much to have teeth removed. And that was just the start of their nonsense. They also told me they may not be able to get to all of her teeth in 3 hours (that is the maximum time you can put a small animal down for surgery) so she may have to come back for a SECOND surgery. It took 10 MINUTES for the vet to clean her teeth today (and remove the 3 teeth that needed to be extracted). Again, this is a cat we're talking about. They have very small teeth. I wondered why The Unethical Cat Practice didn't send me home with a copy of their estimate. Now I know. The never-ending list of charges on that quote was seriously a JOKE. These are not qualified people. I'm just glad my 5-year old cat gets to keep her teeth, and I get to keep my hard earned money. By the way, the vet office I am using now is Paint Creek Animal Clinic in Rochester. They are very honest and they take care of animals. If it's a little bit of a drive for you (it is 45 minutes for me), trust me it will save you lots of $ in the end. In my case, it actually saved me thousands which is sad to say. It's unfortunate there are businesses out there like The Cat Practice.
We are sorry that you decided not to return to The Cat Practice and hope that your cat is doing well. Anytime a cat suffers from chipped/broken teeth and severe gum inflammation, the pain is excruciating. Plus the resulting bacteria often leads to more serious illness including liver, kidney and heart disease. For all procedures, we take every precaution to make sure each cat is safe and comfortable. This includes pre-operative and post-operative pain medication, pre-anesthesia blood work and urinalysis to rule out any other health conditions, dental x-rays so that we do not miss anything, complete monitoring while under anesthesia, fluids to keep the cat hydrated, post-operative care and more. No more than several teeth are extracted at a time to not exceed the amount of time a cat can safely be kept under anesthesia. The estimate provided to you was from $1,250 to $1,861; we are happy to send you a copy. Please contact any of our three feline veterinarians, or me directly. Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. -- Dr. Cindy Houlihan, DVM/Owner, The Cat Practice/248-540-3309 IMPORTANT NOTE TO CAT FAMILIES – dental disease is on the rise – ask your veterinarian about prevention with regular brushing and new gel cleansers.

Provided by YP.comI recently had to use the services provided by The Cat Practice. My experience was exactly as they stated it would be, Compassionate, Professional Personalized Care. Dr. Grobson was wonderful, the staff that I dealt with was wonderful, including Tabatha and Samantha and anyone else I came in contact with that I do not have a name for. Even my cat Sophie warmed up to the staff on the second visit, after his treatment for infected wounds as a result of a vicious "cat" astrophe! I can't say enough about the care and attention, and I have to extend a huge THANK YOU for making Sophie healthy again!
