SDS Lumber Company s timber comes from various sources, all of which are grown on the eastern side of the Cascade Mountains where trees grow slower with finer grains that ideal for high-grade lumber and plywood. To ensure quality, SDS oversees production every step of the way, from harvesting the raw material to packaging and shipping the finished product. Once logs reach the mill, the company relies on its work force and advanced technology and equipment to produce some of the finest wood products available. It embraces conscientious forestry practices, utilizes technology to enhance production and minimize waste and recycles every ounce of raw materials, which includes the bark that fuels its biomass plant and manufacturing facilities. With a convenient location on the Columbia River, SDS diversified operations include a marine division providing log towing and miscellaneous tugboat services.
