Located in Beverly Hills, Calif., the Department of Community Development advises the city manager, city council and its commissions, residents, the business community and the general public on land use and development issues. It also provides logistical support for assessing future demands for services related to land use in Beverly Hills. The department provides administrative assistance to the planning commission. The Department of Community Development maintains the general plans and zoning code and maps that provide the policy and regulatory basis for land use and development. In addition, it oversees applications for discretionary permits, including conditional use and development permits and in-lieu parking agreements. The department also administers community development block grants and other federally assisted programs.
