The Department of Human Services provides social services to meet the needs of the citizens of Northampton County, Pa. These services are provided through drug and alcohol, mental health and veteran affairs divisions. The department s Area Agency on Aging serves senior citizens aged 60 and older and offers subsidized employment, referral, legal, specialized transportation, care management, adult day care, counseling, emergency energy assistance, home health care and waiver services. The Department of Human Services children, youth and families division is responsible for planning and providing state-mandated social services to dependent and abused children and youths. Its information, referral and emergency services division provides services for other divisions in the department. The Department of Human Services is located in Bethlehem, Pa.
