DOUGLAS A. DURANTE is President of Durante Associates, Inc He is the founder and Executive Director of the Clean Fuels Development Coalition ( CFDC ), a non-profit organization supporting clean transportation fuels such as renewable alcohols. CFDC has a broad-based membership that includes automotive, agricultural, and engineering organizations throughout the country.Mr. Durante has been working in the fields of energy, transportation, and the environment since 1977 when he was a staff member of the National Transportation Policy Study Commission for Congress. He later became the Director of Public Affairs for the National Alcohol Fuels Commission established by Congress and chaired by U.S. Senator Birch Bayh. He served an assignment as a special assistant in the Office of Alcohol Fuels for the U.S. Department of Energy. Mr. Durante has been involved in a number of legislative initiatives at the federal level for energy, transportation, and public works projects related to areas such as alternative fuels, coal slurry pipelines, international trade, agriculture, and tax policy.In addition to his work with the CFDC, Mr. Durante currently represents a number of clients before Congress and serves as a liaison to federal agencies such as the Departments of Energy, Agriculture, and EPA. He regularly develops legislative, regulatory, and financial assistance strategies for his clients. He has extensive experience in media relations and has been on radio and television as an expert guest or commentator. He directs Durante Associates ethanol development projects including feasibility studies, market assessments, and political and public relation strategies. He has been involved in dozens of ethanol studies in the U.S. and internationally.He served on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Clean Fuels Advisory Committee, which developed the regulatory programs governing the Oxygenated Fuel and Reformulated Gasoline Programs, and the Governors' Ethanol Coalition's Biomass Advisory Committee. He also served on the U.S. Department of Energy's Business Roundtable Advisory Group, and the working group of the Federal Fleet Conversion Task Force. Most recently he served on the Biomass Research and Development Technical Advisory Committee and chaired the Fuels Subcommittee. He has also served on a number of state advisory boards and councils, including in Arizona, Colorado, Missouri, and New Mexico. Mr. Durante holds a B.A. degree in English and Journalism from Elon University in North Carolina and has completed a number of graduate courses in business and government affairs.RAYMOND W. DURANTE is Chairman of the Board of Durante Associates, Inc He has over 50 years of professional experience and has held senior management positions in industry and the federal government. The most noteworthy of these include: design and project engineering on the Savannah River Project and Nuclear Submarine Program, Industry Exchange Executive for the U.S. Department of Interior, Vice President for Energy Programs Westinghouse Electric Corporation, Executive Vice President of the Schneider Group of Pittsburgh, and currently President of Durante Associates, IncMr. Durante managed a major contract with the Canadian government aimed at introducing Canadian nuclear technology into the United States. Mr. Durante assisted in setting up and managing a U.S. company which served as the applicant in the submittal of the CANDU reactor design to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission for certification. He managed a group of specialized nuclear licensing consultants and served as liaison between AECL and the U.S. utilities and U.S. government agencies. He participated in the Plutonium Disposition Program initiated by the National Academy of Sciences to determine how mixed oxide fuel elements could be burned in CANDU reactors. Durante Associates has represented a dozen major U.S. corporations in business development activities for both government and commercial programs.
