AVOID THIS UNSCRUPULOUS REALTOR AT ALL COSTS!!!

This summer my mother turned 90. We thought a week long family surprise party in Bethany Beach would be great fun for everyone. During the planning of this surprise party I contacted Doug at Sandcastle Realty looking to rent 2 large beach houses for a week. I explained why we were going to BB. I asked several times if these properties were "nice". Doug assured me that they were nice; he had folks request these properties year after year; and "you'll like these houses". Done! Bethany Beach, here we come!!



The big week was finally here! On Saturday, all my brothers, cousins and their kids arrived for the big surprise. Upon seeing the properties I certainly was SURPRISED (also appalled, disgusted and embarassed) by the accomodations. One property was OK, the other (Dune Rd) was a DUMP and didn't even have the number of beds as advertised by Sandcastle. (one of our guest slept on the floor) SURPRISE! On Monday it rained and SURPRISE! the roof/skylights leaked onto two of the beds. 2 guests opted to leave Monday. Not only was the place falling apart, it was filthy. There was human filth on the blinds and some of the comforters, the outdoor shower couldn't be used, the washing machine leaked, etc SURPRISE!.



We went to Sandcastle's office and met with Doug. He admitted that he had in fact misrepresented the number of beds. He went onto say that he felt the Dune Rd property was a "tear down" (his words, not mine). He finished the meeting by telling us that his contract protected him from any litigation so he wasn't going to do anything. SURPRISE! Bottom line: the only thing Sandcastle Realty was willing to do was take our money! We tried to make the best of it, after all, it was supposed to be a week long celebration. On Wednesday the rest of the family left, unable to cope any longer with the condition of this property.



Use anyone EXCEPT Sandcastle Realty. These folks should have their licenses pulled!
