The Amoeba music in Hollywood is often noted in lists of the top record stores of the country, but this Telegraph avenue location (there are three amoebas altogether) is bursting with Berkeley flavor. A hangout spot for hipsters and striving rap artists alike, this jam-packed store has everything you could want at low prices. They even have a classical room, plus posters and dvds. You can find great vinyl here as well, and the staff are completely equipped with music and store knowledge that allows you to help them without even looking anything up in the computer. Other great features include an amazing piano design building, and proceeds from cd sales partially go to saving the rainforest.
