When I lived in Bellingham in the 80's and 90's, a different owner ran Rising Sun Motors and I was always very happy with their work. I've brought my 1992 Lexus to Rising Sun under the present ownership several times in the last 3 years. Each and every time, my car came back to me with more things not working than when I brought the car in to them. While they did a fair job of fixing what I brought the car in for, my ongoing frustrations with them has been that they cause more problems than they fix. The inconvenience of repeatedly having to bring my car back to them to fix what they broke, and the resistance I got each time, made me choose to not ever go there again. They also never retained the parts they replaced, even though I specifically asked for the parts each time, in writing.

The best mechanics I've encountered in my 55 years of car ownership. Competent. Honest. Reasonably priced. Timely appointments and they complete the work when promised. They have always exceeded my expectations. I have recommended them to my friends who own Japanese imports, and even my father-in-law, and everyone has always been equally pleased.

My car had a really bad oil leak, needed new spark plugs, gaskets replaced, and other major repairs. The dealership wanted over $1200 dollars to fix them. I thought that was outrageous. A friend of mine told me that he had been taking his car to Rising Sun for years and values the honest repairs and reasonable costs for repairs there. So I took my car to Rising Sun instead. They fixed all of those issues for $750 and even replaced my broken telescopic antennae for free! Now that was great service with a smile. They now have a new customer for life.

Rising Sun has gone through several owners. All were great but the current owner is outstanding. If they can't fix your car, no one can. Rising Sun has maintained my car for over 30 years and it still purrs on the first turn of the key. Great, helpful staff.

I have been out of the Bellingham area for about five years now, but when I was a hamster, the guys at Rising Sun were the best. I had never trusted a mechanic until I met these guys who always ended up giving me straight talk and a good price for quality work. I trusted them so much that I even bought a used car from the office guy (Jeremy) who eventually became one of the owners a year or two before I left.
