The Bedford Area Family YMCA maintains a fitness center, weight room, indoor heated pool, basketball court, and softball and soccer fields. It provides a preschool program for children between the ages of 2 to 5 and focuses on developing language, perceptual, memory and gross motor skills. Located in Bedford, Va., the organization also operates the Carilion Teen Center, which features fitness equipment, pinball machines, traversing wall and ping pong table. The Bedford Area Family YMCA s other activities include arts and crafts, outdoor games and fields trips. It partners with the city government to positively redirect the energy and attention of at-risk youths in a healthy and safe environment. The Bedford Area Family YMCA additionally conducts an array of adventurous camps.
