The Bedford Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency that provides a variety of safety and security services. The department includes more than 50 full-time officers, dispatchers, detectives and record specialists. In addition, it includes a police auxiliary unit that performs various duties, such as traffic and crowd control, vacation checks and security needs at special functions. Its staff also includes several specialized groups, including K-9, field training, special response, traffic homicide, bike patrol, community-oriented policing, victim advocate and agricultural crime units. The Bedford Police Department provides first-aid training classes for adults and scout groups.
