Terrible experience! I ordered...

Terrible experience! I ordered new wheels for my 1999 Corvette based upon the quote provided which included the wheels, lugs, pressure bands and labor. My account was charged the entire amount upfront rather than charging for the products upfront and the labor when it was completed. When the wheels were being installed I was advised that I needed a rebuild of the pressure sensors which are a part of the valve stem rather than bands, I approved purchase of the rebuild kit. I also approved filling the tires with nitrogen which was an additional charge. I did not receive a copy of the receipt for the initial charge. I called when I got home and was reviewing the bill and was told that the charge was the bid amount. Subsequently I found out that I had been charged for both the bands (not used) and the rebuild kit. When I questioned Jim about it he said that the additional charge was because I had run flat tires which are more challending to remove. I told him that I did not have run flats, I had Bridgestones. He then complained that he wasn't making enough profit on the wheels and told me to get documentation to prove what he had charged me. I am going over there this afternoon with copies of my card billings for the two charges and a copy of his original estimate. They owe me $100.00.

1. Charging a customer for product ordered is appropriate. Charging a customer for work before it is completed is not.

2. The customer gets every invoice every time and the billing is reviewed with the customer prior to their leaving the shop.

3. Check your daily charges rather than sending the customer for documentation to prove you overcharged. Making them spend additional time and money to recover what you overcharged just makes them madder.

I will get my overcharge refunded this afternoon or it will cost them more than $100 in restitution and punative damages to rectify what will happen to their reputation View Less
