Founded in 1944, Electro Scientific Industries supplies production laser systems and other high-technology manufacturing equipment for microengineering applications. The company designs and develops a broad range of products and systems, including laser systems for memory repair; laser-drilling systems required for advance semiconductor packaging; and test, termination and inspection systems for passive components. The company first produced high-precision resistance measurement instruments and reference standards. Electro Scientific developed laser-based systems for hybrid circuit resistor trimming in 1970. It has manufacturing facilities in Oregon and offices worldwide, including North America, Japan, Europe, China, Taiwan, Korea and Singapore. Electro Scientific Industries employs more than 600 people and is headquartered in Portland, Ore.
