A bus barn employee by the name of Ms. SCOTT who was driving bus 393 for Homer school dropped my 6 year old son off on the curb after seeing that there was no adult outside waiting for him. My son also informed Ms. Scott this as well! She then told him to go try knocking on a friends door and then pulled off. Ms. Scott did not call me nor the babysitter, nor did she take the time to take him back to the school and have him wait safely. It was not only very cold outside but raining as well. My child was found standing in the rain, wet, and hysterically crying by a complete stranger. This man transported my child back into his home and allowed him to call me. Thank God this was a good person with good intentions! I called the bus barn and first spoke with assistant NANCY and attempted to make a report. NANCY was really rude, had no empathy, nor sympathy, and simply informed me of the: "drop and roll," policy. She educated me that the "drop and roll," policy means that any child (5 years old and up) is dropped off on his/her stop regardless if any adult is out there and regardless of the weather condition. The driver is only responsible for dropping off the child and rolling along. I asked to speak with her supervisor; NANCY refused to tell me a name nor allow me to speak with anyone else. Parents please be aware of this policy and know the type of morality that the Beaumont Independent Transportation employees has when dealing with our children. I completely understand the responsibility of a parents job to be on time to pick up their child. However, there are unexpected emergency’s that can arise and cause a parent to be late. Despite the heart less “drop and roll,”policy a normal human being should have consideration to care for any humans well being and safety!
