I had a horrible experience with Mr. Poff. He never called to inform me of any important information. He says he has 15-20 years experience and did not even let me know that my son was suppose to have a guardian ad litem appointed before we planned a trip from Texas. The first thing out of his mouth was that he needed another retaining fee so that he could schedule us again.
I feel he did not argue hard enough for my case, and as soon as we lost, the first thing he says again is that he would represent my mother to fight for her grandmother rights with a retaining fee.
Mr. Poff is not recommended at all. I lost a lot of time and money going back in forth from Texas to South Carolina so that Mr. Poff could find a way to extend our hearings and keep asking for another retaining fee.
He will keep you updated as to how much you owe him, though.
I regret that the former client failed to point out he had lost custody of his child when he was jailed for a violent felony and was sent to prison several States away. We did represent him and did, as he says, lose, as the Judge saw fit, after several years, to terminate his parental rights, but it was not for lack of zealous representation. He also complains about billing but failed to pay his bill and still owes a large balance.
