The Louisiana State University System is one of the largest public university systems in the South. It is among the most important part of Louisiana s economic, social and educational fabric. The Louisiana State University System has a public hospital system and campuses located throughout the state of Louisiana. The system contains facilities and programs in each of Louisiana's 64 parishes. Institutions in the Louisiana State University System include LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, La., Health Care Services Division and LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center. Its 10 private colleges and universities are represented by the Louisiana Association of Independent Colleges and Universities.
