JAMES M. KIDD, III_ is a native of Baton Rouge who received his M.D. degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in 1976. He has completed post graduate specialty training in internal medicine at LSU and subspecialty training in allergy and immunology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and teh American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Kidd has published research on food allergy, allergy to animals, occupational allergy, exercise related allergy, and basic immunology. He is currently active in national allergy societies and has lectured locally, nationally, and internationally regarding his alelrgy research. Dr. Kidd has obtained the hightest ranking membership as a Fellow of each: The American Academy of Allergy and Immunology, The American College of Physicians and the Royal Society of Medicine (U.K.). **Initial Visit:** The purpose of this visit is to obtain a detailed history, adequate physical examination and preliminary lab work to establish whether allergy therapy is indicated. If it is felt you or your child has allergies, testing will be done. **_Skin Tests: _** Usually this can be accomplished in two visits (one hour each), your initial visit and a subsequent visit approximately one week later. **You should not take any antihistamines for at least 48 hours before testing. ** During your first visit, prick tests are applited to the back. On our second visit, intradermal tests are applied to your arms. Both tests are read approximately 20 minutes after application. The skin tests are essentially painless. Following completion of all skin tests, a summation of your results will be explained to you. Your allergic reactions and day-to-day care will be discussed at that time. Allergy Shots: Visits for allergy shots are _not_ evaluation and management (EM) office visits. If you have a problem or question when in for an allergy shot, a message will be taken and your question will be answered by telephone later in teh day or an office visit will be made to discuss your problem. Blood pressures, weights, and medical advice will not be done during allergy shot visits. **Follow Up Visits:** _Disease_ Asthma Severe Asthma Rhinitis (nasal allergy) Patients on prophylactic antibiotics Patients on corticosteroids Urticaria (hives0 or Angioedema (swelling) Any illness that has recentently flared or is unstable.

**Emergencies after office hours: ** Situations requiring attention after office hours will occasionally occur. For emegenies at night, weekends, or holidays, call the office number, 769-4432. The answering service will take your name and phone number and your call will be returned by Dr. Kidd or antoehr allergist on call. Routine prescripitions will not be filled after hours or on weekends. **Of course, if the situation is particularly severe, got directly to the Emergency Room of the nearest hospital, or call 911. **
