I was in town recently due to the passing of my mother. My family and I ate there twice and both times the wait staff was great and the food pleasant. The Chat-A-Whyle has a much deserved "hometown" feel to it and seems to be a major focal point for the town. Patronized by many friendly, outgoing folks not normally seen elsewhere. It is one of the numerous things I miss about small town america. Lee C. Utegg... Stockton, CA.

(This is a belated review, due...

(This is a belated review, due to the unique spelling of the restaurant's name.) Some time ago, my wife and I were "following the hood ornament" through New York. It was less than twenty minutes from closing time when we walked in the door, were cordially greeted, seated, and briefed on entrees. "Any suggestions?," we asked. From the other side of the dining room came the unmistakable voice of "Flo," from "Mel's Diner." "GET THE POT ROAST!" Well, she may not have been Mel's "Flo" - - and the ready-to-serve pot roast perhaps was food that would get us late-comers out of there around closing time - - but she was absolutely right. It was the best pot roast dinner we've ever had, anywhere, including Mom's kitchen. Served lucious sticky buns while awaiting the superb vegetables and tender, tasty pot roast, we had no room for an array of offered desserts. (Besides, we wanted to be sure "Flo" made a prompt getaway.) We'll always remember the warm, friendly folks - - especially "Flo" - - and great homestyle food we enjoyed at Chat-A-Whyle. We've promised ourselves another visit, hoping to again enjoy the pleasant service and laid back atmosphere - - hopefully, with a cameo by "Flo" - - and a repeat episode of "GET THE POT ROAST!" Indeed, do "get the pot roast."

I just moved to Bath, NY and the Chat-A-Whyle Restaurant is a great "in town" diner/cafe. The wait staff are always friendly and the food is good. Everyone seems to know each other whether you are an employee or patron. Nice "home town" feel to the place.

The original was the best but this is ok

It's a good place to meet friends for a quick bite. The staff are friendly and the prices are reasonable.
