About Summer Festival of the ArtsThe mission of SFOA is to encourage a community of artists of all ages where children can express themselves creatively through a wide range of artistic endeavors, gain a lifelong appreciation for the diversity of the creative spirit, and celebrate that creativity through the performing and non-performing arts.Most of our students live on Mt. Desert Island year-round, but we also have many summer visitors from across the state of Maine and beyond! SFOA encourages community and cooperation among all of its students and their families, our teachers and staff, and the public. Camp culminates in a weekend-long Grand Finale which gives each student the opportunity to perform, read or display their work.SFOA is a non-profit organization supported by tuition and donations from generous individuals, local businesses and foundations.
